AGILENT SELECTS LINX COMMUNICATIONS FOR NEW PHONEEXTEND FOLLOW-ME SERVICES

Hewlett-Packard Spin-Off To Deploy New Follow-Me Services Powered by Linx Unified Communications Technology

Newton, Mass. - July 31, 2000 - Linx Communications, Inc., a leading communications Application Service Provider (ASP) delivering unified communications and messaging services to businesses and individuals, today announced that Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) has selected Linx for its new PhoneExtend service in the U.S. The PhoneExtend service, powered by Linx unified communications technology, enables more than 2,300 Agilent employees located in its offices throughout the U.S. to be more reachable to outside callers and colleagues and greatly reduces the frustrations of telephone tag.

Agilent's PhoneExtend follow-me capabilities allow employees to have all incoming calls ring at any three user-specified numbers. If the user doesn't answer his primary desk phone, PhoneExtend will simultaneously ring his mobile phone, home phone and other alternate phone number. This gives employees more flexibility, and dramatically increases the likelihood of connecting with important incoming callers instead of playing telephone tag. Callers have the option to reach that person in real-time, leave a voice mail or send an alpha-numeric page.

"It's been great working with such a forward-thinking company as Agilent. This application highlights Linx' ability to deliver customized outsourced business communications solutions," said Jeff Schlueter, Linx' vice president of marketing and product development. "Agilent wanted a flexible communications solution that addressed the increased mobility of employees both within an office and when they are traveling or telecommuting. Linx extends Agilent's existing phone system to meet the needs of this fast-paced and dynamic environment. We look forward to working closely with them as we continue to deploy PhoneExtend."
