LINX COMMUNICATIONS CLOSES SECOND ROUND OF FUNDING WITH $10.5 MILLION

Leading Communications ASP Receives Funding from Five Major Investors

Newton, Mass. - July 18, 2000 - Linx Communications, Inc., a leading communications Application Service Provider (ASP) delivering unified communications and messaging services to businesses and individuals, today announced that it has raised $10.5 million in its second round of funding from five major investors, including Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), Hsin Investments, MF Private Capital, OneLiberty Ventures and Tredegar Investments.

The funding brings total investment in Linx to $15.6 million. The new financing will be used to expand the company's unified communications network and increase its sales, marketing and customer support efforts. The investors in the new Series B will participate on Linx' board of directors.

"This round of financing demonstrates the investment community's confidence and support for Linx' vision, business plan and experienced management team," said Joe Gately, president and CEO of Linx. "This enables us to further our position and offerings in the unified communications and messaging market by providing a bridge between the Internet and the public switched telephone network. Combining unified messaging with real-time call connection, our services take a quantum leap in helping businesses and individuals with diverse and dynamic communications needs. We will continue to extend these capabilities to further empower users with e-mail integration, VoIP, more POPs and wireless integration."

"Linx has developed an innovative approach to help companies be more accessible and productive by consolidating multiple communications technologies," said Michael Frank, general partner at ATV. "This investment enables Linx to expand its focus on sales and marketing, accelerate its growth and strengthen its position in the unified communications market."

"We look for portfolio companies that exhibit great business potential and Linx is one of those companies," said William M. Sheehan, managing director at MF Private Capital. "Linx' reception in the market has been impressive and demonstrates the market demand for their unified communications services. They have a very focused approach to helping companies tackle their communications challenges with an exciting suite of solutions. We look forward to their continued growth and success."

Linx' second round of financing follows on the heels of a multi-faceted strategy for opening its network architecture to carriers, CLECs, ISPs, value-added resellers and providers as well as teaming with business-to-business (B-to-B) Web portals to sell its unified communications services. Linx also formed partnerships with Telegea.com, emobee.com, sundial.com and ZeroPlus.com to resell its unified communications services.
