LINX COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES UNIFIED COMMUNICATION SERVICE IN NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA

Revolutionary Universal Number Simplifies and Integrates Communications for Mobile Business Professionals

New York, NY - March 10, 1999 - Linx Communications, a leading Communications Service Provider (CSP), today announced availability of its innovative Universal Number( service throughout the New York Metropolitan area, expanding Linx' local reach in the Northeast. Linx Universal Number is a revolutionary service that simplifies and streamlines voice, fax and other communications services for on-the-go business professionals, saving time and money and eliminating the frustrations associated with "telephone tag".

According to an AT&T study, fewer than 26% of all calls reach their intended party. "Today, mobile professionals and virtual office workers face a daunting task of trying to stay in touch with important clients and contacts. With the Linx Universal Number, more than 80% of all calls get connected. That's a substantial increase in connectivity," explains Joe Gately, President of Linx Communications. "Universal Number eliminates the need to provide clients and other contacts with multiple phone numbers, thereby eliminating confusion and frustration for both the caller and the Universal Number user."

Linx Universal Number service is rapidly expanding nationwide, offering the only local access unified communications service accessible through local numbers in multiple cities across the U.S. Linx New York Service is available throughout Manhattan and northern New Jersey. In addition, Linx plans to extend its service to other New York and Connecticut locations. Linx service is ideal for corporations, telecommuters and mobile professionals in a variety of key industries including financial services, banking, technology, healthcare, manufacturing and many others that require a more simplified and manageable approach to communications services.

Linx Universal Number is simple, convenient and transparent. It provides business professionals with a single, local phone number that cost-effectively integrates voice, messaging and fax communications. When a caller dials a user's Universal Number, the system rings up to three specified numbers simultaneously and announces the caller. The user can choose to take the call, send it to voice mail, or even transfer the call to a colleague. With only one number as the point of access, Universal Number makes it easy for important clients and contacts to stay in touch while allowing the user to take only necessary calls.

While Linx services can be used by customers anywhere through toll free numbers, a unique feature of the service is its local number access which makes it significantly more cost effective than other unified services that require 800 number calls.

Gately stated, "We are the only provider offering local number access to users' calls and messages from multiple locations around the country, much the way many national Internet Service Providers offer local access numbers to their networks from distant points. With coverage in the New York-New Jersey region, we now reach much of the most densely populated regions in the Northeast. We will continue to expand our service in these areas and throughout the United States."

LinxView Web Interface Available with Universal Number Service
Universal Number service will also soon include a Web-based personal communications manager, LinxView. Available in Q2 1999, LinxView gives Universal Number users the ability to quickly and easily manage all their calls, faxes and messages from their PCs via the Internet. LinxView transforms the computer screen into a virtual communications center so that, with the click of a mouse, users can listen to voicemail messages, place calls, view and print faxes, manage speed dial lists, and change telephone numbers and availability. In addition, LinxView enables users to send voice and fax messages as e-mail attachments to any Internet-based e-mail address.

National Linx Network
Linx Universal Number service is currently available in Boston and Washington, DC, as well as throughout the San Francisco/Bay area. Linx will expand service to 15 additional cities in 1999, including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. Current Linx corporate customers include 3COM, America Online, Apple Computer, Compaq, Coopers & Lybrand, EMC, Ernst & Young, and IBM.

In addition to Universal Number and LinxView, Linx provides a range of other communications services. Linx services are subscription-based and start at $14.95 per month.
