LinxWeb Fax Help Guide
PLEASE NOTE: LINX COMMUNICATIONS DOES NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORT THE MACINTOSH PLATFORM. However, you may use a graphic converter to open images. It is our hope to support the MacIntosh platform in the future.
If you are having difficulties viewing faxes on LinxWeb, you want to make sure that you have Wang Imagining. Most PC's will have Wang or Kodak Imaging already (depending upon what version of Windows you have), but you will need to configure it properly.
To do this, click on "My Computer", then select "View" and then "Options" or "Folder Options".
Next click on the "File Types" tab. This will bring you to a list of registered file types. If you press "T" this will bring you down to the first file type that starts with T. You should scroll downward until getting to "TIF Image Document". With this selection highlighted, click on the "Edit" button on the right side of the page.
Towards the lower half of the page, there will be a white screen that has "Open" printed on it. Double click on "Open".
A dialog box will pop up. Within the box, you'll see "Application Used to Perform Action" and it will contain an address on the customer's computer. Make sure that this points to the Wang Imagining on your computer. Click on the "Browse" button and locate the program and then double click on it to select it. Then hit "OK". It is strongly recommended that you perform a reboot at this point. Once you've rebooted, they should be able to view the fax without any problems.
One thing to note is that when you are looking at the dialog box, even if it does appear to be going to "Wang Imagining", it is important that you verify that it is looking in the correct place on your specific computer. Each individual computer may have the program located in a different folder on their computer. Above it shows that Wang Imagining is located in a folder called "ImageVue" which is located under Accessories, which is located in the Windows NT folder, etc… However, not on everyone's computer will it be located in this same location. It could be located directly in Accessories, located in Windows. Folders and files might have been moved around on your computer, which would cause the program to be located in a different folder than already specified above.
Listening to Messages Via LinxWeb
PLEASE NOTE: LINX COMMUNICATIONS DOES NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORT THE MACTINTOSH PLATFORM. HOWEVER WE HAVE HAD SOME CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD SUCCESS IN USING "SOUNDAPP" TO LISTEN TO MESSAGES. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THE MACINTOSH PLATOFRM IN THE FUTURE. If you are having difficulties listening to voice messages on our website, you want to make sure that you are using Windows Media Player. (Most PC's will have Windows Media Player already, but will need to configure it properly.) *If you are using Netscape, please refer to the end of this document for instructions on disabling "npaudio.DLL" before moving on to the next step. To do this, click on "My Computer", then select "View" and then "Options" or "Folder Options". *If using Windows ME it will be under "Tools" and then choose "folder options" or "options"
Next you should click on the "File Types" tab. This will bring you to a list of registered file types. If you press "W" this will bring you down to the first file type that starts with W. You should scroll downward until you get to "Wave Sound". With this selection highlighted, you should click on the "Edit" button on the right side of the page.

*Netscape Users
Do a Find for npaudio and hit "Find Now"
When it brings up a lists if files, select npaudio.DLL and then using the right mouse button choose to rename the file. You want to change the DLL part to something other than DLL. I've changed mine to npaudio.DLA.
Now reboot the computer. This process has disabled "npaudio.DLL" which should enable Netscape users to view faxes on LinxWeb. If this did not resolve the problem, please refer to the top of the page for instructions on associating Windows Media Player. |
